Dear Colleagues,
You may be wondering, “Where did the semester go?” I find myself asking the same question.
December is here, and winter break is just weeks away. Most importantly, commencement will be here before we know it. I know we are all busy wrapping up the semester, but please take time for yourselves, your students and your colleagues.
It has been a busy year at UH, marked by campus transformation, institutional accomplishments—including improved rankings—and many notable faculty achievements. Admittedly, this has also been a year of transition across higher education. At UH, we have worked hard to remain compliant with new expectations while also preserving our campus culture.
I want to express my deepest thanks to each of you for your support, feedback and collaboration throughout the academic year. Your hard work is moving UH closer to its institutional goals and elevating our students to new levels of success.
This edition of Academic Update spotlights some of the very students you are mentoring, including a recap of the 3-Minute Thesis Competition presented by the UH Graduate School.
Thank you again for all that you do for UH. Have a productive end to the semester and a restful winter break. I look forward to celebrating with you and our students during commencement.
Respectfully,
Diane Z. Chase
