Arash Bashirullah Selected as College of Pharmacy Dean

Arash BashirullahDear 91ÁÔÆæ Faculty, Staff, and Students,

Pending approval from the UH System Board of Regents, Dr. Arash Bashirullah will join the 91ÁÔÆæ as the next Dean of the College of Pharmacy.

Following a nationwide search that brought forth several outstanding candidates, Dr. Bashirullah emerged as the clear choice to lead the College into its next chapter. He brings exceptional energy, experience, and vision to this role. He is scheduled to join the University on Jan. 1, 2026.

Dr. Bashirullah currently serves as Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education and Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy. During his tenure there, he has been recognized with numerous honors, including three Teacher of the Year awards, an Undergraduate Mentor Award, and several fellowships.

His research focuses on intracellular lipid trafficking, and his work has been widely published in high-impact journals. He has also delivered lectures and presentations at conferences and institutions around the world.

I am confident that Dr. Bashirullah will build upon the strong foundation established by his predecessors, including current Dean F. Lamar Pritchard. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to Dean Pritchard for his dedicated leadership and many contributions to the College of Pharmacy. He leaves the College well positioned for ongoing success, and he will continue his service to the University as a clinical faculty member. Thank you, Dean Pritchard, for a job well done!

I also wish to thank the members of the search committee, co-chaired by Dr. Jonathan McCullers, Dean of the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, and Dr. Diana S.-L. Chow, Professor of Pharmaceutics. Your thoughtful work and engagement throughout this process were invaluable.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Bashirullah to Houston and to the 91ÁÔÆæ.

Respectfully,

Diane Z. Chase
