Preparing for Fall 2025
Dear Faculty,
Fall 2025 is fast approaching, and I am looking forward to a productive start to the academic year. Before we welcome students back to our classrooms, it’s important that we’re prepared to return to a campus that has changed significantly over the summer months.
The 91ÁÔÆæ is presently undergoing a major transformation in preparation for its Centennial Celebration in 2027. While we look forward to a new chapter for the University, parking, campus accessibility and traffic will be drastically affected.
As you prepare for the first week of classes, please consider the following tips:
- Plan ahead
Visit the . It includes information on campus parking and transportation and other helpful information. - Arrive early
Consider arriving on campus at least 30 minutes earlier than usual to help decrease traffic congestion, particularly during the first week of classes. - Use UH Maps to navigate construction
The Map feature on the app or the online will assist you in getting around campus. Both provide real-time navigation around campus construction that can be used for walking or driving. maps are available online. These maps will change as construction enters new phases, and the University community will continue to be notified of significant changes to our campus. - Practice leniency, flexibility
Please consider concluding classes on schedule (or even dismissing them slightly early if possible) to allow yourselves and students more time to travel across campus. It’s also recommended to practice flexibility with students who may arrive late to class, particularly during the first weeks of class. - Communicate with students
You are encouraged to contact your students via or Canvas to offer reminders of campus construction and ask them to plan ahead before arriving on campus. Additionally, let them know when your syllabus has been created (within the new platform).
Beyond campus construction, our institution (and others throughout the state) are complying with new higher education legislation. President Khator recently offered an , and additional information will be available this fall.
I recognize that all of this is a lot of information to take in and that campus construction will test all of us. I am confident, however, that we will work through any challenges together.
Thank you for helping our students (and each other) prepare for a productive fall semester! I look forward to seeing you!
Respectfully,
Diane Z. Chase
