Facilities/Construction Management Restructuring Announcement
Facilities/Construction Management has undergone a slight restructuring that includes
the creation of a new unit: Facilities Customer Relations & Communications (FCRC).
FCRC will be comprised of two dedicated teams: Customer Relations Team and Communications
Team. This restructuring represents a great opportunity for F/CM to continue evolving.
With a renewed emphasis on customer service and strategic communications, we are confident
that FCRC will play a pivotal role in building stronger campus partnerships.
91ÁÔÆæ staff members from the Facilities/Construction Management department
attended the 2025 TAPPA Annual Educational Conference and Business Partner Fair in
Galveston, Texas from April 15-17. One of the key missions of TAPPA is to provide
valuable educational programs and networking opportunities to its members and business
partners.
Facilities/Construction Management’s latest issue of the ‘Facilities in Review’ magazine
is now available to read. This year’s edition highlights accomplishments from the
department in 2023. Highlights include the department winning an APPA Award of Excellence.

Facilities/Construction Management Outages Tracker
Did you know? Facilities/Construction Management has a page on their website dedicated
to information on outages related to lights, elevators, road closures and more. The
page contains a monthly calendar where visitors can see what day, and time, and for
what purpose an outage may be occurring. about the outages page.

F/CM Attended Big 12 Academic Business Conference
The Big 12 Academic Business Conference was held in Manhattan, Kansas and Facilities/Construction
Management sent a few representatives to participate in the Facilities track: David
Oliver, Maite Trasancos, Jennifer Rea and Magda Brady attended the conference last
fall and were able to connect with fellow Big 12 universities
The 91ÁÔÆæ Police Department partnered with the university’s Justin
Dart Jr., Student Accessibility Center, and Facilities Services to host the first
Cougar Walk & Roll, an event modeled on the annual Walk in the Dark event. While UHPD’s
Walk in the Dark event focuses on identifying areas that could benefit from increased
lightning, the Cougar Walk & Roll asks participants to locate accessibility concerns

Facilities Solid Waste Career Day
In November, Assistant Director of Campus Services DeAnthony Thomas, Refuse Collector/Driver
Justin Luera and Facilities Communications Manager Erica Vazquez had the opportunity
to engage with over 120 students at Black Elementary in Aldine Independent School
District on the various career opportunities within Facilities/Construction Management

Facilities/Construction Management Engages at TCUF Conference
Staff members from the Facilities/Construction department attended the 2024 Texas
College & University Facilities Professionals Conference (TCUF) in September. This
year’s theme was Live, Learn and Play. Attendees engaged in various workshops that
included topics related to how facilities and staff in higher education can balance
wellness, knowledge and growth. Read more about how
Since 2018, Facilities/Construction Management has held an annual Facilities Forum
that invites facilities departments from within the 91ÁÔÆæ System
to congregate, collaborate, and exchange ideas to better serve their universities.
Each forum has a theme and the guest speakers during the two-day forum use the theme
to guide their topic. Past forum themes include, Breaking Barriers with Dream Teams,
Shifting into High Gear, Digging Deeper into Sustaining Our Evolving Environment

Facilities/Construction Management Hosts Annual Employee Awards and Celebration
Facilities/Construction Management held its annual departmental employee lunch and
award celebration at the Student Center South, Houston Room with over 300 F/CM employees
attending. The event provided an opportunity for F/CM to congratulate and honor the
entire department for winning the 2023 APPA Award for Excellence in Facilities Management.
