Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program 2026-2027 application now open until September 15, 2025

Fulbright Scholar Program:

Faculty who are U.S. citizens and would like to participate in teaching/research with an institution abroad should consider applying for a Fulbright Scholar Award. Program length ranges from 2-12 months and applications are due in September each year. The Fulbright Scholar program offers numerous specific awards per country. We recommend interested applicants review each country's individual awards in depth on the Fulbright Scholar search database. For current program information and application guidelines, please visit the . 

The Fulbright Scholar Program also includes a unique, short-term scholar award open to faculty and staff called the Fulbright International Education Administrators (IEA) Award. Fulbright (IEA) Awards are two-week funded seminars for U.S. higher education administrators to learn about participating countries’ higher education systems, exchange information on best practices, explore the potential for partnerships with institutions of higher education in the host country, and raise the profile of your home institution within the host country and the U.S. participant cohort. Fulbright Specialist Program:

Faculty who are U.S. citizens and would like to participate in short-term academic projects abroad should consider applying for a Fulbright Specialist award. Program length ranges from 2-6 weeks and applications are due on a rolling basis (every two months). For current program information and application guidelines, please visit the . 

Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program:

Faculty and departments who would like to host an international scholar at the University of Houston can encourage potential visitors to apply for the through their home country's Fulbright commission or the public affairs section of the U.S. Embassy in their home country. Faculty should contact for support with the Fulbright sponsored J1 visas and sample invitation letter guidance. is the main contact on campus for visiting international scholars.
