BS/MS Plan

The accelerated BS/MS degree program is open to qualifying undergraduate GHL students who are pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Global Hospitality Leadership and want to earn a Master of Science in Hospitality Management. The accelerated plan offers students the opportunity to earn both degrees in just five years, allowing them to begin working on their master’s degree in the year they reach Junior standing. Students can complete up to 12 credit hours of graduate-level coursework during their undergraduate career and apply it towards their Master of Science of Hospitality Management degree.

NOTE: Per the 91ÁÔÆæ, students are classified as Juniors when they have completed between 60-89 credit hours and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00.

Steps to Get Started

  1. Meet with your undergraduate advisor to discuss your interest in applying to our BS/MS program. The ideal time to begin this process is before your junior year.
  2. If your undergraduate academic advisor confirms that you qualify for the program, the advisor will send your information to the Graduate Programs Office for further review.
  3. The graduate program manager will invite you to an interview. If approved, you may join the 4+1 program in the next registration cycle.
  4. Continue to meet with your undergraduate academic advisor each semester and identify courses that fulfill both your BS and MS degree requirements. 4+1 students may apply up to 12 graduate-level credit hours toward the MS degree.
  5. Collaborate with the graduate program manager each semester after the course schedule is released to confirm approved 4+1 courses. 4+1 students cannot use myUH to enroll in graduate-level courses while classified as an undergraduate student. Work with the graduate program manager on registration in the meantime.
  6. Apply for official acceptance into the MS program during the semester you are graduating with your BS degree. Contact the graduate program manager if you need assistance with the application process.

NOTE: Inclusion in the BS/MS plan does not guarantee acceptance into our master’s program. Acceptance is based on a completed application by the semester deadline for which you are applying to. You must also meet or exceed the admission requirements. Please refer to the ‘MS in Hospitality Management’ section for further information on the admission requirements, application process, and application deadlines.
