UH and DHR Health Hospital System Establish Medical Research and Education Center in the Rio Grande Valley

The 91猎奇 and DHR Health Hospital System today announced an agreement to establish The 91猎奇 Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine and DHR Health Medical Research and Education Center in the Rio Grande Valley. Supported by a $15 million state appropriation, the new center will serve as a hub for advancing medical research, expanding health education programs and improving access to health care across one of Texas鈥� most medically underserved regions.

UH Health Family Care Center Supports Students鈥� Success

As the new school year approached, the UH Health Family Care Center, partnering with Boynton Chapel Methodist Church, opened its doors and heart to the community with its Back-to-School Block Party. The event offered families more than just school supplies; it provided a day of fun, connection, and vital health resources in one of Houston鈥檚 underserved neighborhoods.

2025 White Coat Ceremony

July 26 at 10:00 A.M., the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine hosts the 2025 White Coat Ceremony and welcomes the incoming Class of 2029 as they don their white coats, a symbol of their position as medical students. They will take the stage and pledge their oaths at the outset of their incredible journey through post graduate studies. This past May 10, the 2025 Commencement Ceremony marked a milestone for Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine as our second class donned their regalia, took the stage and received their diplomas. Ghana Study Abroad Opportunity

Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine in partnership with Humana Institute is planning a study abroad trip to Accra, Ghana. From 7/5/2025 to 7/13/2025, College of Medicine students will collaborate with University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS) students and faculty to provide patient care in underserved communities. This experience will foster cross-cultural medical learning, enhance clinical skills in resource-limited settings, and strengthen partnerships between Fertitta College of Medicine and UGMS. Students will work alongside local health care professionals to address community health needs while gaining valuable insights into global health challenges and solutions.
