For Hines College alumna Mariam Fallah (M.Arch. '17), architecture is rooted in collaboration and curiosity. Now a Principal at GSMArchitects, she brings that spirit to projects shaping communities across Houston, including recent work with the Houston Area Women鈥檚 Center. On her time at the College, she said, 鈥淭he Hines College taught me the importance of dialogue and the value of sharing ideas with colleagues and friends ... Collaboration was always at the core.鈥�

The Hines College is once again making its mark on the city鈥檚 architectural landscape, with faculty, students, and alumni recognized among the winners of this year鈥檚 AIA Houston Design Awards. Presented annually by the American Institute of Architects鈥� Houston chapter, these awards are considered the region鈥檚 highest honor for design excellence.

Sam D'Amico, FAIA (B.Arch. '81) is a proud Hines College alum who is inspired by the design and emotive aspects of architecture. As the national healthcare design director at SmithGroup, where he is also a vice president, he integrates art, nature, and daylight to create healing environments.
